Physical Therapy

Originally state licensed physical therapists who work in out patient settings used electricity, ultra sound, heat, ice and exercise to help people recover from musculoskeletal and neurological injuries or illnesses. More recently, physical therapists have been educated in and are incorporating alternative manual and movement therapies into their treatment plans. Physical therapists may be specialists in craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, massage, Alexander or Feldenkrais techniques. Combined with physical therapists' knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology, these methods are used to help people recover from back and neck pain, TMJ, chronic pain, sports injuries, fractures, repetitive motion injuries, tendinitis, headaches, strokes, and many other diagnoses. Referrals from an MD, DO, DC, or dentist are usual but not necessary for an appointment. Medical insurance usually covers the cost of treatment.
